Know what's coming before it arrives.

Watchfire Labs follows the clinical trials in regenerative medicine and matches each one to the care a state already delivers, so clinicians, providers and institutions can see which new therapies are coming, which care they will change, and when.

See Clinical Horizons Forecast →

Regenerative medicine will displace current provider services.

A new generation of therapies is moving through clinical trials. Many aim to repair tissue and restore function, rather than manage a condition for years. That is good news for patients, and it means much of the care clinicians and institutions provide today will change. Today they know new therapies are coming, but not which ones, how much of their care they will touch, or when. So they wait, and when a therapy arrives they are caught unprepared. We started Watchfire Labs so the people who deliver care can see it coming and plan for it.

Herald turns the trial pipeline into a forecast.

Herald is our platform. It brings together clinical trial records, de-identified claims data and public signals, and links clinical concepts to clinical dollars.

  • Watch the trials

Herald follows the trials on ClinicalTrials.gov and reads who each one is for: the condition, the people it enrols and the criteria they must meet.

  • Match the care

It matches those criteria to the care a state already delivers, so a therapy's reach is measured in real encounters, not guesses.

  • Forecast the arrival

It estimates when each therapy is likely to reach the clinic, and which practices and institutions will feel it first.

See the therapies heading for New Hampshire.

Clinical Horizons Forecast follows the regenerative therapies in clinical trials, starting with non-cancer therapies, and shows which care in New Hampshire each one would change, which practices and institutions deliver that care today, and when it is likely to arrive.

  • 2027Cartilage repair cell therapy
  • 2028Heart muscle repair therapy
  • 2029Retinal gene therapy
Therapies and years shown are illustrative.

Five questions, answered for every therapy.

  1. Which care would this therapy change?
  2. What is already spent on that care each year?
  3. Which practices and institutions deliver it today?
  4. When is the therapy likely to arrive?
  5. What share of a clinician's year does it touch?

The last question is the one that matters most. It turns a trial far away into a number a clinician can plan around.

What a forecast looks like.

The Horizon

  1. 2027

    Cartilage repair cell therapy

Knee cartilage surgery and the rehabilitation that follows it

    about 6% of a practice's encounters

  2. 2028

    Heart muscle repair therapy

Ongoing heart failure care after a heart attack

    about 4% of a practice's encounters

  3. 2029

    Retinal gene therapy

Monitoring and treatment for inherited vision loss

    about 2% of a practice's encounters

  4. 2030

    Spinal disc regeneration therapy

Back pain care, from injections to spinal fusion

    about 5% of a practice's encounters

Therapies, dates and figures are illustrative.

From a trial to a forecast.

  1. From the trial

We read each trial's eligibility criteria and work out which condition it targets and which care its therapy would replace.

  2. To the care

We find that care in de-identified claims across the state, counted in encounters, at the level of the practice or institution that delivers it.

  3. To the forecast

We estimate when the therapy is likely to arrive, and what share of a clinician's year it would touch, using public Medicare data. Every estimate says how it was made and how uncertain it is.

Built for the people who deliver care, and those who fund it.

  • Clinicians and practices

See which of the care you provide a new therapy could change, and when, so you can plan training, staffing and referrals ahead of it.

  • Hospitals and health systems

Understand which service lines new therapies will reach first, and plan capacity and investment before they arrive.

  • Programs and funders

See where regenerative medicine will make a difference, and where support for clinicians and institutions will count most.

How we work

  • Shown, not asserted

Every forecast comes with the trail that produced it.

  • Public and de-identified data

We work from public trial records and de-identified claims. The data we use does not identify anyone.

  • Education, not promotion

We do not promote any therapy. Our forecasts are for understanding and planning.

  • Calculated, not claimed

Where a number is an estimate, we say so, and show how it was made.
